Monterey Trip Report

Jenny, her mother, the Fabulous Brewster Boys and I spent Easter weekend in Monterey. We stayed at a fancy hotel, the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa, at a very good rate for two nights. The purpose of our trip was to get away during the first two days of Russell's Spring Break, so that Jenny would not have to be at home with Russell and Punky all day for a solid week. And yes, we did want to visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium, which we last saw two years ago with Russell.

We arrived in Monterey late Sunday afternoon after spending Saturday night in San Jose at Jenny's sister's house. The hotel is situated right on the Pacific Ocean, so the views from the hotel balconies were amazing. The Brewster Boys took to the water immediately, and ran around the deck for nearly an hour taking in the ocean breezes and views all the time. We managed to corral them both back into the hotel, and although they resisted fiercely, we could tell they were clearly glad to be in Monterey. By the time we ate dinner in the room, it was too late and too cold to do much outside, so we had to wait until the next day to begin exploring the area.
